Daily schedules on camp

Our working week runs from Sunday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday are our weekend and after a few household chores on Fridays, you get the chance to go on fun dives or go into Toliara for shopping and internet.

We do all of our shopping on in Toliara so if you want a trip to town you can join us. You can even choose to stay overnight and experience Toliara nightlife.

Working days start early but we are dependant on the tides for taking the boat out to make survey dives. You’ll start your day around 6.30 - 7.00am in the university bungalow for breakfast. After that it’s out diving or working on projects at the ReefDoctor house.

We break for lunch at 12 noon after which we take a break during the hottest part of the day. We start again at about 2pm with another dive or more project work.

Our days finish at around 6pm as the sun sets - a sight that’ll have you running for your camera every night. Dinner is at 6.30pm and then it’s time to rest and relax. Sometimes you’ll want the early night, but on others you might wander in to the village to take part a local dancing competition!

Diving, work, and play are our mainstays. Our schedules have plenty of time for work, fun and relaxation. After all there is no point visiting such a unique place as Madagascar without taking some time to enjoy it.

Camp morale and dynamics is an important aspect of your stay and we strive to keep spirits up by having a varied work schedule and regular ‘escape’ breaks - forest walks, beach excursions, volleyball contests to name a few, and we have some great places to escape!
