Diving medical
In order to participate in a ReefDoctor expedition you will need to have a medical certificate saying that you are fit to dive and provide us with basic medical information about yourself. Some of these forms need to be filled in and signed by your doctor so make sure that you include this visit as part of the medical preparations for your trip.
Any family doctor/GP (general practitioner) can certify you fit to dive - you do not need to go to a doctor specialising in scuba diving medicals. There are a series of medical forms you and your doctor will need to complete, and your doctor will need to conduct a standard ‘recreational sports diver medical’ to ensure you are physically and mentally fit to dive and participate in the project.
There will be a charge for this medical - currently around £40 in the UK - but be sure that it is a recreational diving medical not a professional one, which can cost much more. To find out more about diving medicals visit the e-med web site.

If you have difficulty locating a doctor to perform the medical, UK participants can visit the HSE web site for a list of HSE approved doctors.

Please download the following forms and present them to your doctor:
If you are a divemaster or instructor, please note that you will not be allowed to work with us without prior agreement. If agreement is in place, you will be required to have a professional diving medical and meet all teaching requirements with regard to insurance etc. specified by PADI International. For more information, visit our working dive professionals section.
N.B. Failure to provide the required medical forms will exclude volunteers from undertaking any diving activity.
